‘Desperate Housewives’ hit our screens the other day in a blaze of publicity assuring us that it is a potential successor to ‘Sex in the City’. 'الياءسه ربات البيوت تصل الى الشاشات الاخرى ونحن اليوم في الحريق من الدعايه لنا التأكد من انه من المحتمل الى الخلف' الجنس في المدينة '. In contrast this week saw the opening of ‘Alexander’ a film by Oliver Stone that the Christian Right in America has turned into box-office poison by staying away from cinemas nationwide. على النقيض من هذا الاسبوع شهد افتتاح 'الكسندر' فيلم اوليفر ستون إن اليمين المسيحي في اميركا قد تحولت الى الاطار الحالي لتسمم من قبل ابتعاده عن دور السينما على الصعيد الوطني. Why is this? ولماذا يحدث هذا؟ The former is most definitely not a ‘blaze’ but just banal nonsense with zero dramatic content. الاول هو بالتأكيد ليس 'الحريق' وانما مجرد هراء تافهه مثيرة الصفر في المحتوى. The latter a brave attempt to bridge the chasm between American and European cinema. الاخير شجاع محاولة لجسر الهوه بين السينما الاوروبية والامريكية. It does this by taking the best elements of the Hollywood genre and blends them with Classical epic theatre. وهي تفعل ذلك عن طريق اتخاذ افضل العناصر من النوع هوليوود ويمزج لهم ملحمة والمسرح الكلاسيكي.

It is easy to see why a film like Alexander has challenged American audiences. ومن السهل ان نرى لماذا مثل فيلم الكسندر طعن الجماهير الامريكية. The first few minutes give us a lesson in philosophy and statesmanship instead of an all out blood and guts fest. أول بضع دقائق يعطينا درسا في الفلسفه والحنكه السياسية ، بدلا من كل أصل الدم والأحشاء مهرجان. One can almost hear people say, “What is this?” or “I came to see a movie not the History Channel”. يمكن للمرء ان يقول ما يقرب من اسمع الناس ، "ما هذا؟" او "جئت لمشاهدة الفيلم ليست قناة التاريخ". Many reviews have spoken of an over-historicizing in this film but I say ‘hallelujah’ about time. وقد تحدثت كثير من الاستعراضات من الافراط في historicizing في هذا الفيلم ولكن اقول 'سبحان الله' عن الوقت. There is such a paucity of proper education in the cinema and this is a rare treat. وهناك ندرة في مثل هذا التعليم السليم ، في السينما وهذا امر نادر علاج. Alexander is an intelligently drawn film that only loses its way when pandering to the American lust for wanton violence although in a film about a General as prolific as Alexander battles cannot be removed entirely. الكسندر بذكاء الانتباه هو ان الفيلم الا عندما يفقد القواده وسيلة لشهوه الأمريكية على الرغم من العنف الوحشي في فيلم عن العام prolific الكسندر المعارك كما لا يمكن ازالتها تماما. Alexander’s life was not violence free but the film clearly shows the other side of his nature that of a youthful idealist who in the end could not pace those around him and therefore keep them on board in his schemes for a truly multi-cultural society. الكسندر حياة حرة ولكن ليس العنف الفيلم يدل بوضوح على الجانب الآخر من بلدة ذات طابع واحد من الشباب مثالي في النهاية لا يمكن ان سرعة تلك حوله ، وبالتالي الاحتفاظ بها على المجلس في تقريره لمخططات مجتمعا متعدد الثقافات .

Despite being almost three hours long this film easily holds an audience as it is visually stunning and with sufficient depth to carry the drama. على الرغم من قرابة ثلاث ساعات طويلة يحمل هذا الفيلم جمهور بسهولة كما هو بصريا مع مذهله وبعمق كاف لتحمل المسرحية. It is an emotional roller coaster and an exciting action film although Stone chooses to ignore the great military exploits of Alexander’s father which would have made the context for Alexander’s achievements and the support of his followers all the more believable. ومن عاطفيه الرول الوقايه ومثيرة عمل الفيلم على الرغم من الحجر يختار تجاهل كبير من المآثر العسكرية والد الكسندر مما كان الكسندر لسياق الانجازات التي حققتها والدعم من جميع اتباعه اكثر للاعتقاد. The film tries hard to encompass this great man’s achievements and his dream and is ground breaking in many ways. ويحاول الفيلم من الصعب ان يشمل هذا الرجل العظيم وانجازات وحلمه هو كسر في الأرض بطرق عديدة. It is fundamentally about the man and his dream and it is easy to assume from the limiting genre of film that the dream of multi-culturalism and tolerance was a failure. ومن اساسا عن الرجل وحلمه وانه من السهل على تحمل الحد من نوع من الافلام التي حلم والتعدديه الثقافيه والتسامح وكان الفشل. However, Alexander laid the basis for European culture, as we know it today and this needed further exploration in the film. ومع ذلك ، الكسندر وضع الأساس للثقافة الاوروبية ، كما نعرفه اليوم ، وهذه تحتاج إلى مزيد من الاكتشافات في الفيلم. The lack of tolerance expressed in Alexander’s murder by his followers towards the end of the film perfectly reflects today’s Western expression of xenophobia and is another warning against any State’s folly in pursuing separatist and pre-emptive policies, Stone did this before in Born on the Fourth of July. عدم وجود التسامح واعرب عن الكسندر في اغتيال من قبل اتباعه قرب نهاية الفيلم يعكس تماما الغربية اليوم التعبير عن كراهيه الاجانب وآخر ومحذرا اياها من اي حماقه الدولة في السعي الى الانفصال وسياسات وقائية ، وهذا لم الحجر قبل ولد في الرابع من تموز / يوليه.

Stone is convinced that the US audience have boycotted Alexander purely because of the bisexuality depicted in it although Alexander’s heterosexuality is only seen in the context of his aggressive ravishing of Roxanna in order to get an heir. الحجر على اقتناع بان الولايات المتحدة قد قاطع الجمهور الكسندر بحتة نظرا للازدواجيه في الصورة على الرغم من أنها مغايرة للالكسندر هو ألا ينظر إليها في سياق تقريره العدوانية roxanna النهب من اجل الحصول على وريث. Interestingly for the gay audience he puts Hephaiston’s, his lover’s ring back on after this encounter. ومن المثير للجمهور وقال انه يضع مثلي الجنس hephaiston 's، قال حبيب's رنتك على بعد هذا اللقاء. Stone’s beautiful and ultimately challenging non-sexual depiction of Alexander’s relationship with Hephaiston, one of true love, proves by the US movie-going public’s response, that love is much more dangerous than sex. حجر جميلة وفي نهاية المطاف تحديا غير الجنسيه للتصوير الكسندر علاقة hephaiston ، واحدة من الحب الحقيقي ، ويثبت من قبل الولايات المتحدة سينماءيه استجابة الجمهور ، ان الحب هو اخطر بكثير من الجنس. Towards the beginning of the film Aristotle tells his young pupils "When two men lie together in lust, it is over indulgence. But when two men lie together in purity, they can perform wonders." نحو بداية الفيلم يروي ارسطو صغر التلاميذ "عندما الرجلين معا تكمن في شهوه ، ومن اكثر من التساهل ولكن عندما تقع الرجلين معا في الطهارة ، فانها يمكن ان تؤدي العجائب". And herein lies the meaning of the whole film. وهنا يكمن معنى الفيلم كله. Radical stuff. مادة جذريه. This along with the film’s historical, intellectual, anti-establishment and non-heterosexual stance makes for an uncomfortable vehicle in the Right-Wing US but we in Europe have more sense. الى جانب هذا الفيلم التاريخي والفكري ، وانشاء لمكافحة المنظمات غير مغايرة لموقف يجعل من وسيلة غير مريحه في الجناح اليميني من دولارات الولايات المتحدة ولكننا في اوروبا على مزيد من الشعور.

The film is well researched and is thoughtful and thought provoking. الفيلم بحوث جيدة ومدروسه والفكر. It will become I think a classic film of its time. وسوف يصبح واعتقد ان فيلم كلاسيكي من وقته. Perfect for this years first LGBT History Month. الكمال السنوات الاولى لهذا الشهر التاريخ والمتحولين الى الجنس الآخر.
