Coming of Age: Learning about Life: Mad Hot Ballroom Dancers. بلوغ سن الرشد : التعلم عن الحياة : جنون الساخنه قاعة الرقص راقصات.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to watch director Marilyn Argrelo’s award winning documentary film, Mad Hot Ballroom. في عطلة نهاية هذا الاسبوع ، وقد اتيحت لي الفرصة لمشاهدة المدير مارلين argrelo جائزة الفوز فيلم وثائقي ، جنون الساخنه قاعة الرقص. From the beginning the film, establishes the basic idea that anyone can achieve anything if he/she has the zest and is ready to work towards it. من بداية الفيلم ، ويضع الفكره الاساسية التي يمكن لأي شخص ان تحقق شيئا اذا كان لها ان الحماس وعلى استعداد للعمل من اجل ذلك. It opens on Public School-115 of Washington Heights, Manhattan, when during her interview, the school Principal informs that 97% of the school’s Hispanic population lives below the poverty line. فتفتح على المدارس العامة - 115 من مرتفعات واشنطن ، مانهاتن ، عندما قالت خلال مقابلة ، ونظار المدارس يعلم ان 97 في المئة من السكان من اصل اسباني المدرسة يعيشون تحت خط الفقر. However, she also asserts, that these students are not apologetic about their conditions. ومع ذلك ، وقالت انها ايضا يؤكد ، ان هؤلاء الطلاب ليسوا اعتذاري عن احوالهم. Yomaria Reynose, the dance teacher of Washington Heights, PS 115 acclaims, “You don’t know what’s hidden inside each child, until you open it up”. As the movie progresses, it brings to light, the myriad facets of the American life. كما تقدم الفيلم ، وهو يسلط الضوء ، لا تعد ولا تحصى من جوانب الحياة الأميركية. The kids share their secrets, talk about various issues that concern them, discuss their perceptions about things. الاطفال يتبادلون الاسرار ، والحديث عن مختلف القضايا التي تشغلهم ، ومناقشة تصوراتهم عن الاشياء. The dance competition event serves the perfect milieu for these young men and women to explore themselves, their dreams, their sensuality; their association with the opposite sex and to learn to coexist with harmony in a multi-cultural environment. الرقص المنافسة الحدث يخدم بيئة مثاليه لهؤلاء الشبان والشابات الى استكشاف انفسهم ، وأحلامهم ، والشهوانيه ؛ رابطتهم مع الجنس الآخر ، والى ان تتعلم ان تتعايش فى وئام مع متعدد الثقافات البيئة. I think it is quite relevant to any modern day society. اعتقد انه ذات الصلة تماما الى اي اليوم المجتمع الحديث.

Initially in the movie, we see kids showing some reservation in getting together. في البداية في فيلم ، ونحن نرى اطفال عرض بعض التحفظ في الحصول معا. They remain with their respective guys’ and girls’ groups and give out strange expressions, when asked to pair up or hold hands. فانها تظل مع كل منهما الرجال والبنات والجماعات نعطيه تعبيرات غريبة ، وعندما سئل لزوج أو حتى عقد الايدي. These kids are basically unwilling participants. هذه هي اساسا غير راغبة اطفال المشاركين. With time and the consistent efforts of their dedicated teachers, the kids’ inhibitions fade away, their attitudes towards their partner softens. مع الوقت وبذل جهود مستمرة للمعلمين على جهودهم المتفانيه ، واطفال 'الموانع تفتر ، ومواقفهم من شريكاتها ينخفض. While praising the efforts made by public schools in organizing events like this, Manhattan teacher sadly remarks, “You bring out all these things to these children. بينما مشيدا بالجهود التي بذلتها المدارس العامة فى تنظيم مثل هذه الاحداث ، وللأسف ملاحظات المعلمين مانهاتن ، "انت ابراز كل هذه الأمور لهؤلاء الاطفال. You bring out arts, all of these programs. انت ابراز الفنون ، وجميع هذه البرامج. And then few years down the line, you see these kids are on the streets. وثم السنوات القليلة أسفل الخط ، وكنت انظر هذه هي على أطفال الشوارع. That’s not what we want for these kids.” She says intensely. وهذا ما لا نريده لهؤلاء الاطفال. "تقول بشكل مكثف. I wish I can get inside every child and say, you are worth it. اود ان استطيع ان احصل داخل كل طفل واقول ، انت يستحق ذلك. You are an individual. انت فردي. At another occasion, we see girls talking about separation and divorce, adultery at a tender age of 11. وفي مناسبة اخرى ، ونرى ان الحديث عن الفتيات الانفصال والطلاق ، والزنا في العطاء من سن 11. They point out that disassociation or neglect may be a reason for kids to find escapade in drugs, associate with gangs etc. ويشير هؤلاء الى ان جمعية او الاهمال قد يكون سببا للاطفال الى ايجاد الطيش في المخدرات ، معاون مع العصابات الخ.

Another thing I moved by in the movie was the sentiment expressed by a Brooklyn school boy. شيء آخر ، إنتقلت بها في الفيلم هي المشاعر التي اعرب عنها بروكلين المدرسة الصبي. This is to do with his religious beliefs. هذا هو القيام مع معتقداته الدينية. Taha, the 10 year old says, “I can’t dance at all because it’s against my religion”. طه ، 10 عاما ، ويقول : "لا يمكنني ان الرقص على الاطلاق لانه دين ضد بلدي". With no offenses meant, it is quite sad to learn that a form of art is rather looked down upon. مع أي مخالفات المقصود ، ومن المحزن جدا ان نعلم ان شكلا من أشكال الفن هو بالأحرى عند النظر الى اسفل. Going along the documentary, the director has playfully underscored issues that concern our social structure. الذهاب على طول الشريط الوثائقي ، المدير playfully وقد اكدت القضايا التي تهم قضايانا الاجتماعية الهيكل.

While watching Mad Hot Ballroom, I felt ebb and flow between happiness and sorrow. بينما يراقب جنون الساخنه قاعة الرقص ، شعرت انحسار وتدفق بين السعاده والحزن. On one hand I was disturbed by the urbane menace, on the other touched by the innocence of students. من ناحية انني أبدى انزعاجه ازاء الخطر مؤدب ، من جهة اخرى تأثرت البراءه من الطلاب. Mad Hot Ballroom has beautifully documented the art of teaching. جنون الساخنه قاعة الرقص الجميلة وقد وثقت فن التدريس. They are focused and determined to change their students’ lives for better. فهي تركز والعزم على تغيير الطلاب لحياة افضل. And it is for them, even the most unwilling and hopeless students undergo a behavioral transformation. وأنها بالنسبة لهم ، بل ان اكثر الطلاب ميؤوس منها وغير راغبة في ان تخضع سلوكيه التحول. A teacher of Washington Heights School remarks about her student, “Michelle was incorrigible, very mischievous, mot focused on school. المعلم من واشنطن مرتفعات المدرسة الملاحظات حول لها الطالب ، "ميتشيل هو الفاسد ، مؤذي جدا ، وركزت على الفحص السنوي المدرسة. But now, she has turned herself around to have real goals. ولكن الآن ، وقالت انها قد حولت نفسها الى نحو الاهداف الحقيقية لها. She now has a much high opinion of herself. ديه الآن بكثير عالية من الرأي نفسه. If that is not a dramatic improvement, I don’t know what else is”. اذا لم تحسن كبير ، وأنا لا أعرف ما هو آخر ".
