Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia,known as PELNI, is the indonesian national shippingline. Pelayaran nasional اندونيسيا ، المعروفة باسم pelni ، هو shippingline الوطنية الاندونيسيه. It is one of the very last shippinglines in the world still operating true long distance passengerservice, where the transportation of people, and not sightseeing, party or taxfree is the point of operation. وهو واحد من آخر shippinglines في العالم لا تزال تعمل لمسافات طويلة passengerservice صحيح ، حيث نقل من الناس ، وليس المشاهده ، أو الطرف taxfree هو القصد من العملية. But don´t expect anything close to Titanic style comfort-the ships are crowded and very spartanous. ولكن donâ't يتوقعون قريبة من اسلوب الراحة تيتانيك - السفن ومكتظه للغاية spartanous.

PELNIS ships-most of them named after volcanic mountains witch the country is filled with, go "everywhere". Pelnis السفن - ومعظمهم من الجبال البركانيه التي تحمل اسم الساحرة البلد مليء ، اذهب "فى كل مكان". However, most ships start and end their 14 days to one month long roundtrips in Jakarta, the indonesian capital. ومع ذلك ، فان معظم السفن والبدء في إنهاء 14 يوما الى شهر واحد طويل roundtrips في جاكرتا العاصمة الاندونيسيه. But at least the food is somewhat better, and it is eaten on a table.Whilst on the economyclass your table is your leap. ولكن على الأقل في الغذاء هو افضل بعض الشيء ، وانها تؤكل على table.whilst على economyclass جدولك الخاص بك هو قفزة. There is privacy in your cabin, and also somewhere safe to store your gear. وهناك خصوصيه في المقصوره الخاصة بك ، وأيضا ما آمنة لتخزين العتاد الخاص بك. That aspect is difficult on ekonomi. هذا الجانب من الصعب على ekonomi. As a foreigner you stand out, and your luggage is quite interresting for people with long fingers. انت اجنبي كما تبرز ، والامتعه الخاصة بك interresting تماما للأشخاص الذين يعانون من اصابع طويلة. My first trip on a PELNI liner went from Surabaya, one of the main portcities on Java, over to the small riverport Kumai on Kalimantan. أول رحلة على الخطوط الملاحيه المنتظمه pelni قد انتقل من سورابايا ، احد اهم portcities جاوة ، أكثر من الصغيرة الى riverport kumai على كاليمانتان. I entered the overcrowded and almost unventilated waitingroom on time-and to my surprise the boarding started only half an hour late. انا دخلت مكتظه وغير مهوى waitingroom تقريبا فى الوقت المناسب - لدهشتي والصعود لم تبدأ الا في وقت متأخر نصف ساعة. Two narrow doors opened, and induced riot like conditions as a thousand persons wanted to go trough at the same time. اثنين من فتح الابواب الضيقة ، وظروف قريبة من الظروف الناجمة عن أعمال الشغب باعتبارها الف شخص يريد الذهاب الى الحوض الصغير في نفس الوقت. All of them loaded with stuff ranging from carpets and a bike to ricesacks and a couple of cages with chickens. لهم جميعا محملة الاشياء بدءا من السجاد ودراجة لricesacks ومع اثنين من أقفاص الدجاج. A stressed police tried to line us up and dealt harshly with one guy trying to sneak in front. أ حاولت الشرطة اكد لنا خط والتعامل بقسوه مع رجل واحد يحاول الخائن في الجبهة. He was brutally taken al the way to the back of the never ending line-his gear remained alone in the front. وقال انه اتخذ Al بوحشيه في الطريق الى العودة تنتهي ابدا من خط بلدة والعتاد لا تزال وحدها في الجبهة. One man somehow managed to get onboard without a ticket. رجل واحد بطريقة ما تمكنت من الحصول على تذكرة سفر على متن الطائرة دون. Problem for him was that the ticketcontrols are very thorough. المشكلة بالنسبة له هو ان ticketcontrols دقيق جدا. Doors are closed all over the ship to hinder people in sneaking away, and the ticketcontrol itself is impressive. ابواب مغلقة في جميع انحاء السفينة لعرقلة الشعب في الانسلال بعيدا ، وticketcontrol في حد ذاته مثير للاعجاب. On the occasion in question, it consisted of: three white uniformed ticketripping shipofficers, two marines from the ships own securityforce armed with revolvers, and finally four policemen armed with revolvers and machinepistols. وفي مناسبة في هذه المساله ، وكان يتألف من : ثلاثة يرتدون الزي الرسمي الابيض ticketripping shipofficers ، اثنين من مشاة البحرية من السفن الخاصة بها securityforce المسلحه مع المسدسات ، واخيرا مع اربعة من رجال الشرطة المسلحه والمسدسات machinepistols. The ticketless man was taken care of in a way very similar to a terroristarrest.I never saw him later. Ticketless فان الرجل كان في العنايه بطريقة مشابهة جدا لterroristarrest.i ابدا رأوه في وقت لاحق.

I survived the boarding, and found my home for the next night-a 60 centimeter wide mattress with one other on each side-occupied by a loving couple in their twenties and a lady in her older days respectively. وانني على قيد الحياة الصعود ، وجدت بيتي لمدة ليلة 60 - إ سنتيمتر مفرش على نطاق واسع مع واحد آخر على كل جانب - التي تحتلها محبا للزوجين في العشرينات وسيدة في بلدها من كبار السن ايام على التوالي. In total something like 100 persons stuffed together like sardins in a can. في المجموع 100 شخص شيئا مثل المحشو معا في مثل sardins يمكن. Our stuff was placed where ever we could find space. لدينا مادة وضعت فيها من اي وقت مضى ونحن يمكن ان تجد الفضاء. Or make space There are no lockers to be found anywhere onboard. او جعل الفضاء لا توجد خزائن ويمكن العثور على أي مكان على متن الطائرة. No wonder many prefer taking their stuff up on deck or out in the corridors and stairways-witch actually are airconditioned-the only trace of luxury to be found anywhere on the economyclass. لا غرابة ان يفضل اخذ كثير من الاشياء حتى على سطح السفينة أو في الممرات والسلالم - الساحرة airconditioned - في الواقع هي الوحيدة من اثر الترف ويمكن العثور على أي مكان على economyclass.

Three blows in the whistle, and our ship Binaiya started to sail out trough the labyrinth of anchored ships from all over the world, and headed north and out in open sea. ثلاث ضربات في المباراة ، وبدأت سفينتنا binaiya للابحار خارج الحوض الصغير المتاهه من السفن الراسيه من جميع انحاء العالم ، واتجهت شمالا وفي عرض البحر. Soon it was only an empty horizon to look at, and a beautifull black-bluish watersurface, occasionally penetrated by flyingfishes, to look at. في وقت قريب الا انه كان فارغا ان ننظر الى الافق ، وbeautifull اسود - مزرق watersurface ، واحيانا اختراق flyingfishes ، ان ننظر الى. I started to talk with people-or they started to talk to me. لقد بدأت التحدث مع الناس - أو وبدأوا يتحدثون الي. As the only foreigner onboard I was a sought after target and had to go trough the classic interrogation countless times: Where from. كما اجنبي فقط كنت على متن سعى بعد الهدف وكان عليه ان يذهب الى الحوض الصغير الكلاسيكي الاستجواب مرات لا تحصى : من اين. Married or not. متزوجة أم لا. Any children? اي الاطفال؟ Personal belief? الاعتقاد الشخصي؟ Here it is wise to mention a faith, regardless wether you believe or not. هنا انه من الحكمة أن أذكر ايمان ، وبغض النظر عن الأحوال الجوية كنت تعتقد ام لا. According to common indonesian logic a nonbeliever must be a communist, since communists disregard religion. ووفقا لمنطق أ الاندونيسيه المشتركة غير المؤمن يجب ان يكون الشيوعي ، حيث ان الشيوعيين تجاهل الدين. And to be a communist is not a good thing in Indonesia. والى ان يكون الشيوعي لا شيء جيد في اندونيسيا. Also it is wise to be prepared for the next unavoidable question-your salary! كما انه من الحكمة أن تكون على استعداد لالقادمة مسألة لا مفر منها - الراتب الخاص بك! In Indonesia I made it into a rule always to have a paper where my income was written on top-that always raised gasps. في اندونيسيا الذي ادليت به قبل ان تتحول الى قاعدة دائما ان يكون لها دخل بلدي فيه ورقة وكتب على أعلى دائما ان اثيرت هيث. But then-almost as a self defence-listing up all the livingcosts I also had to live with. ولكن في ذلك الوقت تقريبا بوصفها دفاعا عن النفس من القائمة حتى جميع livingcosts كما اتيحت لي للعيش مع. That usually made people very silent! وعادة ما تقدم ان الشعب صامت جدا! I got to talk to all sort of people. وصلت الى التحدث الى كل نوع من الناس. Like a young armyconscript that recently lost his girlfriend. مثل الشباب في الآونة الاخيرة فقدت armyconscript ان صديقته. Or the girl that had been moved to Kalimantan from her native Java under the transmigrasiprogram-where people are moved from heavily populated areas to less or even unpopulated areas of the country. او الفتاة التي كانت قد انتقلت الى كاليمانتان من وظيفتها الوطنية في اطار جافا - transmigrasiprogram فيها الناس انتقلت من المناطق المكتظه بالسكان ، أو حتى على الأقل خالي من السكان من مناطق البلد. Everything is so different from home†, she sighed كل شيء مختلف عن ذلك homeâ € ، وقالت انها متنهد

The empty horizon with some spread clouds and mist provided a fantastic sunset. الفارغه في الافق مع انتشار بعض الغيوم والضباب وقدمت راءعه الغروب. A red glowing ball, sending a shower of colours over the sky, and lining the blue-blackish horizonline with shining, floating gold. حمراء متوهجه الكرة ، وارسال ما يزيد على دش للألوان السماء ، وبطانة الازرق الساطع مع horizonline ضارب الى السواد ، وتعويم الذهب. The moment the sun disappeared-a loud "Allah-U-Akhbar" shattered the air. لحظة اختفت الشمس - أ بصوت عال "الله - يو الاخبار" حطمت الهواء. Time for the believers to go down to the huge, airconditioned mosque to pray. الوقت للمؤمنين ان تنخفض الى الضخمه ، airconditioned مسجد للصلاة.

The food distribution on the economyclass is a chapter on its own. توزيع الاغذيه على economyclass هو الفصل من تلقاء نفسها. I had heard a lot about food on kelas ekonomi in advance, and nothing good, so had what I needed in my backpack. كنت قد سمعت الكثير عن الغذاء على kelas ekonomi مسبقا ، وليس جيدا ، حتى ما كان لي ان بلدي في حاجة الى حقيبة الظهر. But I wanted to observe. ولكن اردت ان الاحتفال. And what I saw was a line of waiting people starting up on the deck, going down a stair, trough one corridor and around a corner into another corridor. ورأيت ما كان خط انتظار بدء الشعب على سطح السفينة ، في رأس الدرجة أ ، الحوض الصغير ممر واحد وحولها الى ركنية في آخر الممر. Then down another stair, before finally ending in front of a hatch in the wall. ثم آخر الى اسفل الدرجة ، واخيرا قبل ان تنتهي امام احد فتحة في الجدار. There everyone get a metalboard with some rice and something called meat and vegetables that looks distinctively dead. هناك لكل شخص الحصول على metalboard مع بعض ما يسمى الأرز واللحوم والخضروات التي تبدو متميزه قتيلا. Attacked by a sting of humoristic sense I joined in, got my board and ate the food, wondering where to put my board afterwards. هجوم على يد من لدغة humoristic بمعنى ان اشتركت في حصلوا على مجلس بلدي وأكلت أغذية ، ويتساءل فيها لوضع بلادي المجلس بعد ذلك. A smiling man literally took the matter in his own hands by grabbing my board, smiling, and then dropping it on the floor. أ يبتسم الرجل حرفيا في هذه المساله واحاطت بيديه عن طريق الاستيلاء على مجلس بلدي ، تبتسم ، ومن ثم اسقاط على الارض. The established way of getting rid of it. الطريقة المعمول بها للتخلص منه.

Arriving in many of the ports is an entertaining experience. وصوله إلى العديد من الموانئ هو الترفيه عن التجربه. Often these ships are the main entertainment and the weekly or biweekly big event for the locals. وكثيرا ما تكون هذه السفن هي أهم وسائل الترفيه واسبوعيا او كل اسبوعين الحدث الكبير للسكان المحليين. As a result, huge crowds are often drawn in when a PELNI liner is expected. ونتيجة لذلك ، حشود هاءله كثيرا ما توضع في حين يتوقع ان pelni الخطوط الملاحيه المنتظمه. Kumai was filled with a mix of miners, loggers, oilworkers, traders, townspeople. Kumai كانت مليءه مزيج من عمال المناجم ، وقاطعي الاخشاب ، oilworkers ، والتجار ، واهالي البلده. The air was filled with the smell of grilled meat. كان الجو العابق رائحة لحم مشوي. For a moment the situation became tense when soldiers traveling on Nggapulu came into conflict with police. للحظة وقد اصبح الوضع متوترا عندما اطلق الجنود nggapulu جاء على السفر الى صراع مع رجال الشرطة. A warningshot was fired into the air, people ran over to the other side of the quay and the ships gangway was lifted. أ warningshot اطلاق النار في الهواء ، ويتعارض مع اكثر الناس الى الجانب الآخر من الرصيف والسفن التي تم رفعها من الممر. But a moment later everything was back to normal again. ولكن لحظة ، كل شيء في وقت لاحق من العودة الى وضعه الطبيعي مرة أخرى. The girl I sort of traveled together with, angrily commented that it´s always friction between police and soldiers on leave. الفتاة من النوع الاول وسافر الى جانب ، وعلقت بغضب ان itâ دائما الاحتكاك بين رجال الشرطة والجنود في اجازة. She later turned out to be a relative of activists in the OMP-the Free Papua movement, being active in the Papua province of Indonesia. واعربت في وقت لاحق تبين ان احد اقارب ناشطين في خطط ادارة المكاتب - حركة بابوا الحرة ، التى تعمل فى مقاطعة بابوا فى اندونيسيا. While she was terrified to speak about the issue-referring to “long ears being everywhere†, others were very eager to talk. بينما كانت رعب في الحديث عن هذه المساله - واشار الى œlong آذان â € € everywhereâ يجري ، وبعضها الآخر كانت حريصة جدا على الكلام. The locals from the province all said exactly the same with different words-“we feel like second class citizens in our own country. السكان المحليين من جميع المقاطعه : قال بالضبط نفس مع كلمات مختلفة - â € œwe يشعر مثل مواطنين من الدرجة الثانية في بلدنا. We want to rule ourselves, and if necessary we will use armed force to get it. ونحن نريد ان حكم انفسنا ، واذا دعت الضروره سوف نستخدم القوة المسلحه للحصول عليه. But we prefer the matter to be solved peacefully†While talking to this girl, I could not help thinking about another girl I met. ولكننا نفضل ان تحل هذه المساله الى peacefullyâ € في معرض حديثه الى هذه الفتاة ، انا لا يمكن ان تساعد في التفكير في فتاة اخرى التقيت. Nggapulu left the harbour, followed by more or less the same convoy, and I participated in the general shouting and hand waiving taking place until the distance became too big. Nggapulu غادر الميناء ، تليها اكثر او اقل نفس القافلة ، وانني شاركت في العام من ناحية التنازل عن الصراخ وتجري حتى اصبحت المسافة كبيرة جدا. Under the wakening tropical star heaven I instead focused on the market onboard-vendors selling everything from watches-very cheap watches, to t-shirts and jewelry. الايقاظ الاستواءيه تحت السماء نجمه الاول بدلا من التركيز على متن باعة السوق التي تبيع كل شيء من الساعات والساعات - رخيصة جدا ، لوتي شيرت والمجوهرات. There even were a traveling healer, that healed his victims, sorry, patients, by tapping them for blood that were thrown overboard by his two helpers. وحتى لو كانت هناك أي معالج سفره ، ان تلتئم ضحاياه ، وعذرا ، والمرضى ، من خلال استغلال لهم للدماء خارج السفينة التي القيت من قبل اثنين من المساعدين. And in the best Indonesian style, it all took place directly under a sign announcing: “NO VENDORS!†وفي افضل اسلوب الاندونيسيه ، كل ذلك وقعت مباشرة تحت علامة اعلان : â € œno البائعين!  €
