Man’s eternal quest for the unknown and self-discovery finds a very artistic and highly imaginative expression in Jose Saramago’s illuminating novella The Tale of the Unknown Island which starts with “A man went to knock at the king’s door and said, Give me a boat”. الرجل ابدية البحث عن المجهول واكتشاف الذات ويجد جدا فنية وابداعيه عاليه في التعبير خوسيه saramago 'sمضيءه الروايه القصيره حكايه المجهول الجزيرة والذي يبدأ مع" رجل ذهب الى الدقه في الملك الباب وقال ، اعطوني القارب ". After lot of machinations the king appears hesitatingly, and is astonished when the man asks him for a both for going "in search of the unknown island". بعد الكثير من مكائد الملك يبدو hesitatingly ، واستهجن هو الرجل عندما يطلب اليه سواء بالنسبة لالذهاب "بحثا عن المجهول الجزيرة". When the king speaks with authority that no more unknown islands exist, the man is equally sure that he can discover one, and finally he is granted his boat. عندما يتحدث مع الملك السلطة ان لا وجود جزر غير معروفة اكثر ، والرجل على قدم المساواة هو متأكد من انه يمكن ان يكتشف احد ، واخيرا قال انه يمنح قاربه. The cleaning woman at the palace, after overhearing the conversation had decided that she would rather crew a boat and give herself the chance of discovering unknown islands than spend a lifetime in servitude. تنظيف امرأة في القصر ، وبعد ان سمع المحادثة قد قررت انها تفضل طاقم قارب ويعطي نفسه فرصة للاكتشاف المجهول الجزر مما ينفقون العمر في العبوديه. She therefore offers to join him in his adventure. ولذلك فانها تقدم الى الانضمام اليه في بلدة المغامره. When the man points out that she has no experience of sailing, she stoutly points out that neither has he. عندما يشير الى ان الرجل ليس له انها تجربة الابحار ، وقالت انها stoutly تشير الى انه قد لا سعادة. He therefore accepts her as the partner of of his strange journey. وهو لذلك يقبل بصفته شريكا للرحلة من بلدة غريبا.

With the arrival of night, both go to sleep, and the man begins to dream. مع قدوم الليل ، نمنا على السواء ، والرجل يبدأ الحلم. He dreams of the caravel’s three lateen sails gloriously swell in the wind on the high seas. واعرب عن احلام من سفينة صغيرة الثلاثة lateen يبحر بشكل مجيد تتورم في الريح وفي أعالي البحار. He dreams of animals wandering in the deck – ducks, rabbits, chickens, the usual domestic livestock. واعرب عن احلام الحيوانات تجول في سطح السفينة -- البط والارانب والدواجن والماشيه المحلية المعتاده. In the words of Saramago in The Tale of the Unknown island , “From the depths of the hold he could hear a chorus of neighing horses, lowing oxen, braying donkeys. في كلمات saramago في حكايه المجهول الجزيرة ، "من اعماق قبضة يمكنه تستمع الى أصوات الصهيل والخيول والثيران يقلد صوت البقر ، والحمير والنهيق. . .and behind was something he had not noticed before, a group of women, who even without counting, must be as numerous as the sailors, are occupied in womanly tasks,. . وكان وراء شيء وقال انه لم يلاحظ قبل ، مجموعة من النساء ، حتى من دون احتساب ، كما يجب وكما العديد من البحاره ، هي التي احتلت في انثوي المهام ،. . .The man at the ship’s wheel looked for the cleaning woman, but couldn’t see her. . الرجل في السفينة عجلة يتطلع لتنظيف امرأة ، ولكن لا يمكن ان أنظر اليها. . .that at the last moment, she chose not to come, that she jumped onto the quay, shouting, Good-bye, good-bye, since you have only eyes for the unknown island. . انه في اللحظة الأخيرة ، وقالت انها اختارت الا تأتي ، انها قفزت على الرصيف ، والصيحه ، وحسن وداعا ، وداعا حسن ، منذ لديك فقط لعيون المجهول الجزيرة. . .At that moment the sky clouded over and it began to rain, and, having rained, innumerable plants began to sprout from the rows of sacks filled with earth lined up along the sides of of the ship. وفي تلك اللحظة التي تخيم فوق السماء وبدأ المطر ، وبعد ان rained ، وعدد لا يحصى من النباتات بدأت برعم من الصفوف من اكياس مليءه الارض اصطف على طول جانبى للسفينة. . .” Disgusted with the strange journey, the inmates of the ship force the man at the wheel to disembark them in one of the known islands falling on the way. ". مقرف مع رحلة غريبة ، والنزلاء من السفينة قوة الرجل في عجلة على النزول منها ، في واحدة من الجزر التي تقع معروفة على الطريق. “. He woke up with his arms about the cleaning woman, and her arms about him, their bodies and their bunks fused into one so that no one can tell any more if this is port or starboard. وقال انه استيقظ مع ذراعيه عن تنظيف امرأة ، وبين ذراعيها عنه ، وعلى أجسادهم ذو مصهر الى اسرة واحدة ، بحيث لا يمكن للمرء ان يقول اي اكثر اذا كان هذا هو بورت او الميمنه. Although The Tale of the Unknown island is a slim novella, it is one of the rare kind of literature which constantly reminds mankind of its adventurous spirit and discovery of his own self by the master craftsman Jose Saramago, who started literary activity seriously at the age of 57 but rose to new heights when he produced his masterpiece Balthasar & Blimunda at the age of 66 . ورغم ان حكايه المجهول الجزيرة هي ضءيله الروايه القصيره ، وهي من نوع نادر من المؤلفات التي تذكر باستمرار البشريه من روح المغامره والاكتشاف من بلدة النفس من جانب الربان الحرفي خوسيه saramago ، الذي بدأ النشاط الادبي في سن خطير من 57 ولكنه ارتفع الى ذرى جديدة عندما انتجت له تحفة balthasar & blimunda فى سن ال 66. He was honoured with the coveted Nobel prize in Literature at the age of 76. وقال انه يشرفه مع مطلوب جائزة نوبل فى الادب فى سن ال 76.
