Interview with Mr Arnaldo Briñones, مقابلة مع السيد ارنالدو briñones ،
Deputy Production Director, Romeo Y Julieta Factory, Havana. نائب مدير الانتاج ، روميو y Julieta مصنع ، هافانا.

Bringing with him a few bags full of Cuba’s finest, which almost didn’t get past customs, master roller Arnaldo Briñones creates with ease the masterpieces that enthral so many of us. جلب معه بضعة اكياس مليءه اروع كوبا ، والتي لم تحصل على ما يقرب من الماضي الجمارك ، والسيد ارنالدو الرول briñones يخلق مع تخفيف روائع enthral ان الكثيرين منا. Working his magic for an hour and a half, he selects and gathers another group of leaves and again effortlessly rolls a very long, thin, Lancero looking cigar. صاحب عمل السحر لمدة ساعة ونصف ، وهو يختار ويجمع فريق آخر من يغادر ولفة مرة اخرى دون جهد طويل جدا ، رقيقة ، lancero اتطلع السيجار. Born in Havana in 1964, he completed his university studies at the Institute of Pedagogy “Enrique Jose Varona” and obtained a masters degree in 1987. ولد في عام 1964 في هافانا ، وقال انه انجز تقريره الدراسات الجامعيه في معهد التربيه "خوسيه انريكي فارونا" ، وحصل على درجة الماجستير في عام 1987. He then joined the Romeo Y Julieta factory and became a cigar roller. ثم انضم الى روميو y Julieta مصنع السيجار واصبحت الاسطوانه. From extensive training and experience, he was promoted to the 9th Grade, the highest level of cigar roller. مكثفة من التدريب والخبرة ، وقد رقي الى الصف التاسع ، وهو أعلى مستوى للسيجار الرول. He was then selected to teach the younger personnel at the factory. ثم اعيد مختارة لتعليم الافراد الاصغر سنا في المصنع. In 2000 he became Deputy Production Director of the factory. في عام 2000 اصبح نائب مدير انتاج المصنع.

Brushing up on some basic Spanish phrases was not going to get me far, so with the help of Fine Tobacco Australia’s own translator, I managed to steal some time with Mr Briñones to discuss his role, the factory, troubled draw machines and Habanos SA price increases. التنظيف حتى على بعض العبارات الاساسية الاسبانيه لن تحصل لي الآن ، حتى مع مساعدة من الغرامه التبغ استراليا نفسها المترجم ، لانني تمكنت من سرقة بعض الوقت مع السيد briñones لمناقشة دور له ، والمصنع ، وآلات المضطربه استخلاص habanos سا الزيادات في الاسعار. Appearing cool and unperturbed after finishing his cigar, I asked him about his role at the factory. تظهر كوول ورابط الجأش بعد ان ينتهي صاحب السيجار ، وسألته عن دوره في المصنع. He responds to my translated questions with a mellow, raspy drawl. وقال انه يستجيب لبلادي المترجمه الاسءله مع mellow ، raspy التشدق. The Romeo Y Julieta factory floor has enjoyed 17 years of his service and on a day to day basis he currently oversees all of the cigars being produced. وقد روميو y Julieta مصنع الكلمه تمتعت به 17 عاما من خدمته ، وعلى اساس يوم الى آخر وقال انه يشرف حاليا على جميع من السيجار التي يجري انتاجها.

What improvements have you seen throughout your time at Romeo Y Julieta? ما هي التحسينات هل شاهدت طوال وقتك في روميو y Julieta؟
The general quality of the product has improved, especially the draw. العامة جودة المنتج ، قد تحسن ، وخاصة السحب. Humidity and draw machines have been introduced and are going well. الرطوبه واستخلاص آلات استحدثت وهي تسير على ما يرام. An improved wrapper quality has given us better materials to work with. تحسين نوعية الغلاف اعطانا افضل للعمل مع المواد.
In terms of production at the factory we are training rollers to specialize in one vitola through courses and in house training. من حيث الإنتاج في المصنع ونحن على تدريب الدحروجات الى التخصص في أحد vitola من خلال الدورات والتدريب في البيت.
Overall within Habanos there has been an introduction of Total Quality Management from the farm to the factory. عموما داخل habanos حدث مقدمة من ادارة الجوده الشامله من المزرعه الى المصنع.

How do you think an end to the US embargo will affect the industry? كيف تعتقدون انهاء الحصار الامريكى سيؤثر على هذه الصناعة؟
Very well I think. جيد جدا وأعتقد. It will obviously open a new market. ومن الواضح انه سيكون فتح سوق جديدة. A lifting of the embargo will also bring in new tools and technology to improve our productivity and quality. أ رفع الحظر سيؤدي الى ادوات جديدة والتكنولوجيا لتحسين الاداء والانتاجية والجوده. It will of course give Americans the freedom to enjoy Habanos. وبطبيعة الحال سوف تعطي الامريكيين حرية التمتع habanos.
Also in regards to America, Obviously there are no direct commercial relations and no marketing, making it hard to get widespread product awareness. ايضا في ما يخص اميركا ، ومن الواضح انه لا توجد علاقات تجارية مباشرة وليس التسويق ، مما يجعل من الصعب الحصول على منتج الوعي على نطاق واسع. Breaking in to the market through an end to the embargo will clearly generate an increase in sales. لكسر في السوق من خلال انهاء الحصار واضح سوف تولد زيادة في المبيعات.

Habanos SA has recently been developing and releasing larger ring gauge cigars such as the recent Edmundo and Partagas Piramides. Habanos سا الناميه في الآونة الاخيرة ، واطلاق سراح اكبر اخطبوط قياس مثل السيجار الاخيرة ادموندو وpartagas piramides. Why is the market moving that way? لماذا يعتبر السوق تتحرك على هذا النحو؟
Market research conducted by Habanos SA indicates that smokers prefer larger cigars, the main example being the Montecristo Edmundo and success of the Cohiba Siglo VI. أبحاث السوق التي اجرتها habanos سا يشير الى ان المدخنين يفضلون الاكبر السيجار ، وأهم أمثلتها montecristo ادموندو والنجاح للكوهيبا Siglo السادس. Although in regards to length, vitolas of smaller length such as the Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto are also being introduced and are also being preferred by consumers. ورغم ان في ما يخص مدة ، vitolas اصغر من الطول مثل هويو دي مونتيري بيتي robusto كما يجري ادخال ويجري ايضا يفضله المستهلكون.

How have cigar price increases in Cuba affected the volume of sales domestically? كيف يكون السيجار زيادات الاسعار فى كوبا اثر على حجم المبيعات محليا؟
Due to the price increase, customers stepped back and sales did slow for a while but of course this occurred globally with a world wide price increase. بسبب زيادة الأسعار ، وتراجع الزبائن والمبيعات لم بطيءه لبعض الوقت ولكن طبعا هذا حدث على الصعيد العالمي في جميع انحاء العالم مع زيادة الاسعار. As prices have calmed, consumption as I see it, is still strong except for the dip after the price rise. كما الاسعار قد هدأت ، والإستهلاك كما أراه ، لا يزال قويا باستثناء الانخفاض بعد ارتفاع الاسعار. There has been no major change since that initial price increase. ولم يحدث اي تغيير كبير منذ ان زيادة السعر المبدئي.

Have quality control managers investigated the recent customer complaint of under-filled cigars and have they taken steps to correct it? وقد مراقبة الجوده مديري التحقيق مؤخرا شكوى الزبون من وكيل ملؤها السيجار واتخذوا خطوات لتصحيح ذلك؟ What is your opinion of the new draw machines? ما هو رأيك من استخلاص آلات جديدة؟
The use of the machines is 100% better than before. استخدام الالات هو 100 ٪ أفضل من ذي قبل. Of course there will always be difficulties when introducing new technology. بالطبع سيكون هناك دائما صعوبات عند ادخال تكنولوجيا جديدة. Overall, the general feedback is that our cigars are much more consistent throughout a box. وعموما ، فان العام هو ان لدينا اقتراحات السيجار اكثر اتساقا طوال مربع. I would agree with this, as at times whole boxes are tested. اوافق مع هذا ، كما في كل الاوقات صناديق اختبار.
