The Supreme Court yesterday overturned a campaign finance law that would have placed strict limits on the amounts of money candidates for public office could both raise and spend. المحكمه العليا امس حملة نقض قانون التمويل التي من شأنها ان تضع قيودا صارمه على مبالغ مالية المرشحين للمناصب العامة على حد سواء يمكن ان تثير وينفقون. The justices seem to think that the right of free speech of candidates and campaign contributors is hampered if they are restrained from buying a public office. القضاة يبدو الى الاعتقاد بان الحق في حرية التعبير من المرشحين والحملة المساهمين تتعرقل اذا كانت مقيده من شراء الوظيفة العموميه. They also seem to think that the legislature of Vermont, whose law they overturned was out of line to suggest such restraint. كما يبدو الى الاعتقاد بأن السلطة التشريعيه من فيرمونت ، والذي نقض القانون ، فإنه كان من أصل الخط الى ضبط النفس وتوحي هذه.

I would like to propose an idea so novel that it has never been encountered during my lifetime: Let the people of the United States of America, which likes to call itself a democracy, hold a referendum on this and several other issues of national concern. اود ان اقترح فكرة الروايه حتى انه لم يكن ابدا واجهتها خلال حياتي : اسمحوا شعب الولايات المتحدة الامريكية ، والذى يحب الدعوة الى الديمقراطيه في حد ذاتها ، واجراء استفتاء حول هذه القضايا وغيرها العديد من الهم القومي. It’s time for We the People to weigh in on all of these issues, and for our representatives in Washington to do what we tell them to do about them: لقد حان الوقت لاننا شعب يزن فى جميع هذه القضايا ، وبالنسبة لممثلينا في واشنطن ان تفعل ما نقول منها ان تفعل بشأنها :

1. Roe v. Wade الظبى ضد ويد

2. The Death Penalty عقوبة الاعدام

3. Campaign Finance Reform حملة اصلاح المالية

4. Universal Healthcare Coverage تغطية عالمية للرعايه الصحية

5. US Occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan الاحتلال الامريكي للعراق وأفغانستان

6. US Use of Torture الولايات المتحدة استخدام التعذيب

Some of these issues consume ungodly amounts of public time and resources; others are simply issues that our lawmakers and executives cannot seem to bring themselves to settle. بعض هذه القضايا ungodly تستهلك كميات من الوقت والموارد العامة والبعض الاخر لمجرد ان لدينا قضايا المشرعين والمسؤولين التنفيذيين لا يمكن ان يبدو على جعل انفسهم الى تسوية. The people of the United States would be doing themselves and their lawmakers a huge favor to settle these issues for them, and it would move the country forward by light years to do so. شعب الولايات المتحدة سوف تفعل نفسها ومصالحها المشرعون ضخم لصالح لتسوية هذه المسائل بالنسبة لهم ، وانها سوف تنتقل البلاد الى الامام على ضوء سنوات للقيام بذلك. It would also keep our government workers busy implementing the will of the people for about the next ten years. ومن شأنه ايضا ان تبقى حكومتنا العمال منهمكين تنفيذ ارادة الشعب لحوالى العشر سنوات القادمة.
