I know how it feels when people shed tears maybe because of the death of a loved one or in a situation that seems beyond us, I have been in such a situation before yet a wise man said, 'Life puts us on our backs in order for us to look up.' In this write up I'll simply use three real life illustrations to boost up your spirit to see the glass as half full and not half empty. These stories will make you see and harness the treasures in those silver treasures we see as tears.
Charles Darrow was an out of work engineer during The Great Depression, broke and helpless he broke down and wept bitterly till he could weep no more, my mentor once humuorously said, 'When you see a man crying, then that problem is serious'. After his tears, he and his pregnant wife played a game in which they bought properties. As the days went by the game became more and more interesting as they played away their sorrows into a fortune because that game is played in millions of homes around the world, the name of the game is MONOPOLY. I believe that Charles was so pushed to the wall but that little push was all that was needed to climb the ladder of fortune. To him that knock down was not a knockout rather he rose up to the challenge and was the better for it.
Catherine Marshall was dealt a cruel blow when the cold hands of death snatched her husband away. Agreed that she wept her heart out for her beloved husband but that wasn't the end, she wrote a book titled A Man Called Peter which was a bestseller that also turned into a movie making her laugh all the way to the bank. From her experience she taught other widows how to cope with the death of their husbands. Well how about that.
Finally, here is my story of how I harnessed the hidden treasures in my tears, I woke up one morning only to be told that my childhood friend, Adeola had died while recovering from an illness just precisely two weeks after I lost a mentor. The death of these two precious ones made me mourn for four months. After mourning, I decided to do something to immortalise them. Since one common thing we three shared was our love for poetry, I decided to write a poetry book of our lives together in a collection I call MEMORIES, not only is the manuscript ready so is the biography version titled MEMORIES:THIS IS OUR STORY.
Friends, so whenever those tears come just know there is a silver lining in those seemingly dark clouds. A successful man is one who has built a house with the bricks which others threw at him. So let your smile shine beyond those tears for great is your tomorrow because the next tears you will shed will those of joy and not of sorrow. Shalom
