The differences in beauty
Have you ever stopped to think why people feel one physical appearance is beautiful and one is ugly? Why do we think that a smaller nose is preferable to a large one? Why do we think certain size lips or ears are more attractive than others? I have always wondered why different hygiene habits are preferred in different countries. In the United States bathing daily is a practiced habit with most of the population, but that is not the case in some European countries. It is interesting how all these differences began.
Bleaching, waxing and removing hair
Another hygiene habit for women in the United Sates is shaving underarm hair and leg hair. This is something that I have done since I was a teenager. Fortunately my body hair is not very plentiful and is light in color. My daughter on the other hand has had very hairy legs since she was born. As she grew older the hair darkened. Now that she is an adult she is looking into permanent hair removal. She has tried many different products and methods to try to keep her legs and upper lip hair free, but nothing has worked very well. She has had her upper lip hair bleached as well as waxed, but the waxing is painful and as she gets older she is finding that she has to have it done more often. Permanent hair removal is costly, but she feels that this is the best alternative. She is going to start with the upper lip. This is a smaller area and will be able to be completed in two to three appointments. She was told that the permanent hair removal procedure will not be very painful, but because the facial area is sensitive it is best not to try to do the full area at once. She was also told that the area may be red and irritated for a few days so the procedure would be scheduled over time.
Beauty salon or clinic?
She came and asked me if I thought she should get this done in a clinic setting or at a beauty salon. Most full service spa/salons offer the permanent hair removal procedure and, if they are running a special can be cheaper than going to a clinic setting. I advised her to check out the reputation of whatever place she chose. When you are talking about your face you want to make sure that the person knows what they are doing. She found out that most salons use electrolysis and the clinics use laser treatments. She decided to go with the laser treatments. She has been very happy with her permanent hair removal procedure. She has always taken great care to keep the hair under control so most people do not notice the difference, but for her the removal has cut down on the time it takes for her to be ready in the mornings.
